The Finnish Ministry of the Interior (FIMOI) is the national authority responsible for internal security. Our vision is a safe and secure society in all situations. Our objective is to protect people, property, and the environment, ensuring that all citizens can live daily life without crime, accidents, or other disruptions. To achieve this, we focus on preventing crimes and accidents whenever possible and providing rapid and effective assistance during emergencies.
We joined the BEHOLDER project to leverage an excellent opportunity for networking with both international and national partners. The project also allows us to directly contribute to the development of solutions tailored to our specific needs.
In BEHOLDER, we act as the end-user, bringing the authorities’ knowledge and perspectives into every stage of the project. Our goal is to collaborate effectively to strengthen future security measures.
We are committed to active cooperation with all partners, sharing the security needs observed by authorities while proactively contributing to legislative development and considering a broad range of issues.
Our approach emphasizes collective inspiration and the integration of diverse perspectives into development work, ensuring that innovation is both practical and forward-thinking.
Through BEHOLDER, we expect to gain up-to-date insights from both operational activities and technological advancements. These observations will inform comprehensive security planning and operational work, particularly in meeting the evolving needs of the police and other end-users within our administrative branch.
Participation in BEHOLDER aligns with our long-term goal of enhancing the future capabilities of the police in security and emergency response, ensuring they are equipped to address emerging challenges effectively.
The Ministry has previously participated in CBRN-E related projects, primarily through collaboration with regional rescue services, which have played a central role in these initiatives.
